OpenAI Updates ChatGPT to Respond to Queries in Real Time

OpenAI’s success with ChatGPT has since kicked off an unspoken AI competition among tech giants who are also looking to set their chatbots apart from the rest.

OpenAI has now launched real-time capabilities for its brainchild innovation chatbot ChatGPT. Since the viral innovation came to be, there have been concerns raised over its limited data sets which appeared stuck in times past – precisely September 2021. This meant that when users asked targeted questions about more current events, the chatbot responded by saying:

“I don’t have the ability to browse the internet in real time.”

According to the latest announcement, however, the time of being stuck in the past may now be officially over.

It might be worth noting that OpenAI has been consistently focused on expanding ChatGPT’s data and search engine capabilities. In line with its efforts, the company tested a ChatGPT web-browsing plugin in March. Although the company tested the plugin with a few selected users, it soon launched Browse with Bing in May.

Issues arose yet again, and barely a month later, OpenAI was forced to freeze the feature. The freeze decision at the time had to do with users finding out that the feature may be used to bypass paywalled content.

Now, however, the company has begun rolling out Browse with Bing. That is after giving time to site owners to opt out of web crawling if they wish.

ChatGPT Now Can Respond with Images

Other than the real-time response, ChatGPT now can also generate images using OpenAI’s image generation model DALL-E 3. However, the feature is only available to certain users in beta mode for now, OpenAI confirms. About the feature, the company wrote:

“From a simple sentence to a detailed paragraph, ask ChatGPT what you want to see and it will translate your ideas into exceptionally accurate images.”

Since launching last November, ChatGPT has grown to become, arguably, the most popular consumer application of all time. According to a UBS study, seeing about 100 million monthly active users in two months underscored its indisputable popularity.

In what is a rather expected scenario, OpenAI’s success with ChatGPT has since kicked off an unspoken AI competition among tech giants who are also looking to set their chatbots apart from the rest. Google’s Bard is currently the biggest rival to OpenAI’s ChatGPT.
