- Miami Heat superstar Jimmy Butler tallied a career-playoff-high 40 points in Game 1 against the favored Milwaukee Bucks.
- With many NBA players following the trend of being reunited with their wives and children inside the ‘Bubble’ in Orlando, why is Butler insisting on keeping his away?
- Stating that his time in Orlando is a “business trip,” Butler doesn’t want the distraction of family hindering his play.
Does Jimmy Butler have a point not wanting family distraction in the ‘Bubble?’
His career-playoff-high of 40 points on Monday seems to validate his choice. Jimmy’s baby girl will turn one in October, but, apparently, she’ll have to wait for daddy to finish working.
Butler’s defense on the court is superb, and his defense off the floor is most definitely all business in Orlando. In his words, his time in the ‘Bubble’ is a “business trip,” and his family would be a distraction.

Jimmy Butler Keeps the Family Away
If you want proof that he wasn’t distracted on Monday night, ask the Bucks. He’s locked-in, folks. The five-time NBA All-Star swingman sported his hard hat and lunch pail on Monday night.
In regards to his family, Butler spoke with NBA on TNT sideline reporter Allie LaForce. She passed his words along to the viewers on Monday, stating:
No offense to families but Jimmy Butler said, ‘This is a business trip for me. I’m not messing around.’ ‘Everyone wants to have their family, without a doubt. But we’ve been doing this for this long. What’s another couple of months?’ Jimmy concluded, ‘It is an individual decision and I respect that decision that my teammates make but for me, I’m here for business.’
Really, what’s another couple of months? If you’re in it to win it, family intrusion will mess with your focus.

No Distraction, No Problem
After sweeping the Indiana Pacers aside in their first-round matchup, the Heat are now a perfect 5-0 in the 2020 playoffs. Be forewarned, Milwaukee Bucks, Mr. Butler, and the Heat are looking to singe-off your horns en route to the East finals.
Jimmy Butler is laser-focused without his family’s impedance, and he’s right. Family would only thwart his ability to lead the Heat to potential glory.
Winning an NBA title and hoisting the Larry O’Brien Trophy is the only thing on his mind — it shows.
