You Need to Drop the Faux Kathy Griffin Outrage

  • Kathy Griffin tweeted that Donald Trump should “inject air.”
  • Naturally, this comment sparked outrage on social media.
  • But where is everyone’s outrage against the real bully in all this, Donald Trump?

Kathy Griffin is back in the news. This time, the comedian is making headlines because she tweeted that Donald Trump should “inject air.”

That certainly wasn’t a nice thing to say. But why doesn’t everyone — including the news media — get equally outraged over Trump’s various bullying tweets?

Here’s What Kathy Griffin Really Said

Before we go any further, let’s take a look at what Kathy Griffin really said and put it into context with the rest of the general conversation.

CNN journalist Jim Acosta was live-tweeting from the latest White House press conference. Acosta, who has had his own share of issues with Trump, was merely doing his job when he tweeted:

Griffin’s response can be seen below.

Let’s get one thing out of the way. Nobody with any sense is arguing that this was a nice thing to say. “Injecting air” into someone causes an air embolism, which is deadly. Certainly, Kathy Griffin knows this.

Yet inasmuch as one shouldn’t wish death on anyone — not even Trump — where is the outrage against Trump when he does essentially the same thing?

Trump Created This Environment of Incivility

Despite screaming about “making America great again” for the past four years, Donald Trump has fostered an environment of anger, hatred, and general incivility.

To make a complete list of all his threats over the course of his presidency would require hours, if not days, to complete.

But there’s currently a running list of all the ways Trump has become a national security risk thanks to his threats of violence. It’s gone well beyond political rancor and has manifested into real-life consequences.

In 2019, an ABC News investigation identified at least 36 cases of violence, alleged assaults, and hate crimes connected to Donald Trump. And don’t forget that he hinted that pro-gun activists should kill Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, and other people he deems “enemies of the state.”

All of this makes Kathy Griffin’s “f**k Trump” statement look like small potatoes.

So why is she being held to a higher standard than the president of the United States – again?
