In an interview with the Mirror, Rebel shared that her motivation to lose weight was to get other film roles:
I literally feel as if I have to physically transform because it’s very difficult for people to imagine [me in serious roles] for some reason – even though we’re in a very imaginative industry.

A typical Hollywood actress might be someone who looks like Angelina Jolie, who has a slim silhouette and defined cheekbones. But Rebel shouldn’t be trying to fit these ideals to be viewed as a serious actress or be considered beautiful.
The superficial archetypes in the film industry are made more evident when Rebel revealed to The Sun:

Living up to her name, Rebel sounds like she’s fed up with her dumb, funny, and overweight typecast. Jack Black is another example of how we link being overweight to comedy.
However, people like Jim Carrey are examples of a typecast not linked to weight, but his compelling humor.
And that’s something Rebel also has but seems to dismiss.
