Online Gaming Platform Rewards Players with Bitcoin when Killing Others

Just when you think you have seen it all in the crypto world – boom (literally), another new fascinating occurrence surfaces. An online gaming platform took the crypto game to a whole different level as it includes a feature that rewards players with Bitcoin(BTC)trade when they kill other players.

The news broke the crypto ecosystem two days ago when the gaming development firm Donnerlabs took to its Twitter page to announce the addition of a new cryptocurrency feature tagged the Bitcoin Bounty Hunt. With this feature, players can now hunt for Bitcoins and pick up Satoshi cubes too.

The online-only multiplayer first-person shooter game is designed more like the incredibly popular game Fortnite. The game is collectively played by a ton of other players who are left to fight it out in a space until there is just a single player remaining. The last man standing is the winner who is awarded the coveted prize.

Thanks to this new crypto feature, players now have real value motivation to stay on the game. Whether you win or not, you get to collect Bitcoins as you kill off other players. Players who die lose a Bitcoin or Satoshi cubes.

Donnerlabs explained that the platform boasts real time updates. You can see your Bitcoin funds increasing or decreasing as you play. Even more, the Bitcoins are held in a neutrino wallet – a noncustodial ad space for Hodl-auction. This enables quick and seamless cash out.

Commenting on the development, the pro-Bitcoin billionaire investor Tim Draper opined that cryptocurrency-based networks like this will be a major driver of the crypto economy in coming years.

“It’s because of Lightning Network and OpenNode and maybe others that are allowing us to spend Bitcoin very freely and quickly, so that it’s not just a store of value but it can be used for micropayments; it can be used for retail, it can be used all over.”

Is This Really a Good Crypto-Focused Development?

So far, the news has been welcomed differently. A group of people believes this is a welcome development as it will greatly expedite the adoption of Bitcoin across different sectors. Another set is worried about the moral value of the game.

The game is likened to the popular Fortnite game; however, it might call for more worries than was expressed in the heyday of Fortnite. I mean, this is a game paying people real money for ‘killing’ other players (and, unlike other special interest entities or individuals, we can certainly refer to Bitcoin as real money at this point).

You can only imagine the desperation and commitment players will experience playing the game. There’s definitely an argument to be made here, that is not really related specifically to crypto, about the minds of kids being nurtured to believe killing people for money is just fun.
