How Kate Middleton & Sophie Wessex Are Turning Meghan Markle Into an Afterthought

  • When Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stepped back from royal duties, many wondered who would fill the vacuum.
  • The coronavirus pandemic has allowed a new generation of royal family members to step to the fore.
  • Duchess Kate Middleton and Sophie Wessex are taking up the mantle, and Meghan has become little more than an afterthought.

Remember way back when the Sussex Squad and other fans of Meghan Markle gushed that she would change the royal family forever? Then when she left, they told us that Kate Middleton wasn’t glamorous or inspiring enough to fill the void Meghan left behind?

Meghan Markle was supposed to be the new Princess Diana, from what I recall.

They couldn’t have been more mistaken.

Kate Middleton is the Duchess the royal family always needed

As is often the case, the narrative pushed by ego-stroking media outlets isn’t how things play out in real life. Meghan fans who believe that the British media wanted to drive her out of the royal family are simpletons.

The media, be it British or otherwise, thrives on content. And Meghan Markle, for all her faults, is compelling viewing. Not for the reasons she thinks, of course, but headlines are headlines.

Kate Middleton, on the other hand, was long seen as a “by-the-numbers” member of the royal family. She wasn’t particularly controversial, she wasn’t divorced, and she certainly hadn’t been in a television show.

It turns out that none of that matters. It took the media and many others a long time to catch on to something some of us have known all along.

Kate Middleton is everything you could want in a royal.

To commemorate International Nurses Day earlier this month, Kate Middleton and Sophie Wessex decided to jump on Zoom calls together to speak to nurses worldwide.

This team-like approach from both royals didn’t go unnoticed.

Even Omid Scobie took time away from scribing Meghan Markle’s book to comment on it. I hope he didn’t get in too much trouble! Meghan can be very demanding!

Speaking on a podcast and reported by The Express, Scobie commented:

We saw Kate and Sophie team together on one call. That’s the first time we’ve really seen them together on an engagement. Speaking to nurses in seven of the Commonwealth countries, it showed a bit of their friendship as well. They were joking themselves about homeschooling amid the more serious questions they had about COVID-19.

The coronavirus pandemic has provided a platform for the younger royals to step up

When Prince Harry announced that he and his wife would be stepping away from royal duties, it left many wondering who would fill the vacuum.

After all, regardless of what people think of him now, Prince Harry was a very popular royal. The two brothers, Harry and William, along with the Queen and Prince Charles, were always considered the “faces” of the family.

There were hopes that Meghan Markle would step in and add a breath of fresh air and form a friendship with Duchess Kate Middleton, but I always had my doubts.

Meghan had her agenda.

Over the past few months, we’ve seen the dynamic of the royal family change. And for the better, in my opinion.

Prince Charles and the Queen will always do whatever they can, but a younger generation is needed to freshen things up, especially to add appeal for younger people.

We now have that with Prince William, Duchess Kate, and Sophie Wessex.

Meghan Markle? She’s rapidly becoming nothing more than an afterthought.
