Back on its feet, the world’s largest crypto chip maker Bitmain has made good of its promise to the people of Rockdale, Texas, and the global crypto community at large.
You will recall the chip maker promised to create a crypto mining farm in Rockdale last year. Just when hopes were running high and Texas locals were looking forward to the positive influence of such a huge project, the hammer came falling.
The crypto community experienced a bad year that saw prices of crypto coins crumbling to their feet. Like most crypto companies, Bitmain was dealt a bad blow, which compelled it to slam the brakes on the Rockdale data center project, cutting more than half of the workforce at the site.
Fortunately, things seem to be looking up this year and the chip maker finally made good of its promise. Bitmain broke the news earlier in the week, announcing the largest crypto mining farm yet.
The 50MW crypto mining farm can reportedly stretch to more than 300MW, making it unarguably the largest crypto mining farm in the world. The project is expertly hosted and managed by the Canada-based DMG Blockchain Solutions. DMG vows to work closely with Bitmain to ensure the project gets to its maximum potential. Both parties are happy to merge their inputs to expand the capacity of the mining farm and make sure that Bitmain’s mining hardware runs smoothly.
Commenting on the partnership, the COO of DMG Sheldon Bennett asserted that “this mining facility marks a major milestone in the development of the mining farm industry. We are proud to partner with Bitmain, the leading innovator in this sector.”
Crypto Will Boost Rockdale’s Local Economy
As expected, this project will attract massive economic growth for Rockdale. For starters, both Bitmain and DMG promise to employ local workforce in the different development stages of the project. The Rockdale MDD will be employed to grow the on-ground team.
Even more, Bitmain plans on working closely with the local school district to introduce a new course on blockchain to the education system. The course is proposed to focus on educating and training locals on the sophistication of blockchain technology and mining data center operations.
In addition to that, Bitmain is purchasing energy to power the entire project from the Electric Reliability Council of Texas. All in, we can agree these developments will be of immense help to the local community.
