Burger King Customers in Brazil Can Pay in Dogecoin for ‘Dogpper’ Dog Food

In an interesting marketing move, the Burger King franchise in Brazil is selling the Doggeper burgers for Dogecoin (DOGE). The offer will be available only for a limited period of time.

The Burger King franchise at a few locations in Brazil has started accepting Dogecoin (DOGE) payments. However, this is currently limited only to the purchase of a recently introduced biscuit dubbed Doggper. The official advertisement from Burger King Brazil notes:

“Now you can buy Dogepper with dogecoin, take advantage of it. What is the best way to pay for a product aimed at dogs? Obviously, Dogecoins”.

The company’s official website shows that the service is available since Monday. However, customers should first check the availability of delivery in their region. As per the website, a Dogepper costs around 3 Dogecoins as of now. Besides, there are also value meals including the dog treat.

Upon ordering, the customers will transfer the DOGE coin to Burger King’s Brazil wallet. In case the customer doesn’t have DOGE, they can still continue buying it with the Brazilian Real (BRL). The advertisement further notes:

“The biscuits, which carry the characteristic of the famous grilled meat BK flavor, can be purchased for the value of three dogecoins in a simple transaction: the transfer of DOGE from the consumer wallet directly to the DOGE wallet of Burger King”.

Part of the Dogecoin Proceed Received by Burger King Will Go to NGOs

As per Burger King Brazil, the company will forward part of the Doggeper sale proceeds to an animal protection NGO. Also, the Dogecoin announcement from BK Brazil shows that the franchise has joined hands with Petlove.

The Doggeper is not a new product for Burger King. Previously in 2019, the burger giant sold this product in Argentina for customers to share something with their dogs while ordering food. However, Burger King noted that the Doggeper will be available only for a limited time in Brazil.

“We know that enjoying a Whopper in peace, in the comfort of your home, is not an easy task for a mother or father of a pet. But also, how can we blame them? The smell of grilled barbecue meat goes far and gives the dogs a stir,” said Burger King.

Burger King is also not the first business to accept Dogecoin as payment. Right from the food business to space rockets, Dogecoin has found its place everywhere. Earlier in May 2021, Elon Musk‘s space rocket company SpaceX announced accepting DOGE payments. The company announced the ‘Doge-1 Mission to the Moon’ which will be ready for launch by Q1 2022.
